What Is the International Registration Plan (IRP)?

The International Registration Plan (IRP) is an agreement between the United States and many Canadian Provinces that simplifies license fees for individual fleet vehicles. Under the agreement, vehicles traveling in two or more jurisdictions will only be issued one license plate and cab card and will be able to pay license fees for all jurisdictions to their home state/province. Fees under this agreement are based on total miles traveled.
