A “satisfactory” rating means a motor carrier has sufficient safety management practices that meet FMCSA regulations relevant to its operation. An “unsatisfactory” rating means a motor carrier is seen as unfit to continue operating in interstate commerce and may be prohibited from doing so if corrective action isn’t taken.

The “conditional” safety rating means that a carrier does not have adequate safety management practices and may receive violations if changes aren’t made.
