I’m An Owner Operator With No Other Drivers. Do I Need to Sign Up for a Drug and Alcohol Testing Program?

Owner-operators are required to sign up for a drug and alcohol testing program, as well as register with and use the Clearinghouse. As CDL holders, owner-operators are expected to be in full compliance with DOT regulations regarding drugs and alcohol just like any other motor carrier company or CDL driver operating on public roadways. Drivers without a direct employer to manage their compliance will need to work with a third-party consortium to be able to participate in random testing.
